About me

I am a fully qualified experienced Integrative Trauma-Informed Counsellor, with an understanding and empathic nature in private practice based in Gloucestershire. I am experienced in helping clients with anxiety, stress, depression, grief, abuse, trauma, and many other issues. Our work together is completely confidential. Working together with you, I aim to help you process difficult situations or feelings, by offering a welcoming, safe and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, feel heard and understood, develop a greater understanding of yourself and your issues, find patterns and make connections, form new perspectives, forge better relationships with yourself and others and work out new ways to deal with your problems and live a more fulfilling live. I am trained to help you understand your feelings and how to deal with them. I hope to enable you to identify your resources and strengths and to encourage positive change. I tailor the work to you depending on what you wish to explore and how many sessions you require.

Alongside, my private practice, I currently work for Gloucestershire Counselling Service providing time limited and open-ended counselling to individuals experiencing a wide range of personal issues.

Prior to private practice, I worked for Gloucestershire Rape and Sexual Abuse Centre (GRASAC) and have trained in Understanding and Working with Sexual Violence (Accredited training with OCN). I am especially experienced in working with women, men and young girls aged 13-18, who have survived sexual violence or abuse both recent and historic, including childhood sexual abuse and help them empower themselves and move forward using the Trauma Informed Model. I have completed the CRUSE Bereavement Foundation Course and am experienced in working with bereavement and loss.

I am especially experienced in working with women who have survived sexual violence and helping them empower themselves and move forward using the Trauma Informed Model. I am trained to help you understand the impact and effects of abuse and work with you to overcome the symptoms of trauma including panic attacks, flashbacks, PTSD and dissociation. I will work with you to help you to identify any deep-rooted issues that you may or may not be aware of and how they might be impacting you today. Together we will work out how best to work through and resolve these deep-rooted issues and agree on the strategies to help you move forward. I will be working with you to help you identify your strengths and skills and use them. Any changes you might make are of your own choosing.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

If you would like to explore how counselling can help you and find out if online counselling is suitable for you, please call or email me for an initial free no obligation 20-minute telephone call to discuss issues or concerns that you might wish to address in therapy. This also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions or concerns that you may have. It is important that you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist, and this provides an opportunity for you to decide if working together is the right next step. At the end of this free consultation, if you wish to proceed, we will set a day and a time and agree a weekly contact.

I offer one-to-one regular 50 minutes counselling sessions for adults and young people over 16, that are usually same time and day every week. Depending on the needs of each individual I see people on a long-, medium- and short-term basis or time limited, with regular reviews of how you and I feel the work is going to ensure we are addressing the most important issues for you.

I am experienced in working online with Zoom, Microsoft Teams and Skype video call and Telephone counselling.

Healing from trauma and taking care of our mental health is an ongoing process, and I’d love the opportunity to be a part of your journey. Book a free 20-minute introductory phone or video session to help you decide if I am the right counsellor for you.
