About me

Hi - my name is Becky, and I’m passionate about people and supporting them on their own personal journeys, helping them gain clarity around what’s going on in their life, and improving their mental health and wellbeing.

I use what’s referred to as a person-centred approach, which is where you are central to the process of therapy. I create a safe, calm, and impartial environment to help you identify and explore the challenges you face, develop a better understanding of your situation, and facilitate change to deal with this in the future.

My Background

I spent the first twenty years of my career supporting and caring for people in a variety of nursing roles. Over the last decade I have become increasingly aware of the importance of offering and prioritising robust mental health and emotional support, in addition to managing physical health needs. This led me to build on this experience and become a counsellor.

This combination of understanding both mental wellbeing as well as physical conditions allows me to gain a deep understanding of an individual’s holistic needs, and ensures they can maximise the benefit they get from a counselling relationship.

How I can Help

I can support clients with a variety of needs, and have particular experience and interest in a number of fields including anxiety & depression, bereavement, women’s health & menopause, long-term health conditions, and neurodivergence  (including autism and ADHD).

I have worked with many different client groups, including working professionals, parents, LGBTQ+, and carers, and always work closely with each individual to understand their own personal circumstances.

Your Counselling Sessions

I provide both face-to-face and online counselling from my dedicated, confidential counselling room. Each counselling session then lasts 50 minutes, and both short and long-term therapy is available, depending on your needs.

I offer an initial free 30-minute telephone conversation, which allows us to get to know each other, helps me understand your individual needs, and assess how I will be able to help.

Please feel free to book a time using the 'Book Intro Call', or Email me if none of the times are suitable, as I may be able to speak at another date & time.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
