About me

Hello and welcome. I'm a qualified and experienced counsellor working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship problems, work-related issues, loss and bereavement, low self-esteem, anger management and those who want to gain perspective and become empowered to make changes.

To explore how we could work together, please email to arrange an initial chat

I'm registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which means that you can be assured about my competency and trustworthiness and that I meet recommended quality standards covering training, supervision, continuing professional development and ethics.

I work with adults from my practice in Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire.

In my sessions you can expect to be listened to actively and respectfully; to have understanding and support; and to work jointly to deepen your understanding of yourself, your issues and options.

I believe that the ability to connect with and support a client is really important and I have great respect for the power of empathy and intuition.  I think that everyone has the capacity and desire for personal growth and change, given the right conditions.

Some examples of what I do include:

  • Support people through suffering and loss to manage their grieving and start to build independence.
  • Help those who are anxious about managing day-to-day situations to develop coping strategies, recognising and using their underlying strengths and resilience.
  • Work with people struggling with relationship issues to understand and move on from unhealthy repetitive patterns of interactions.
  • Support clients who fear criticism and rejection to build self-esteem and for those reliant on approval from others to trust their own judgement.
  • Help people shift from isolation and withdrawal to a life that encompasses interaction and relationships.

Training, qualifications & experience

  • Certificate in Coaching.  Certificate in Stress Management and Performance Coaching.  Centre for Coaching, London, May-August 2018.
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Psychological Studies, Middlesex University, November 2016.
  • Clinical Diploma in Integrative Psychodynamic Counselling, Metanoia Institute, Ealing, London, December 2014.
  • BSc (Hons) Psychology, The Open University, December 2004.

I trained with the Metanoia Institute, London, in Integrative Psychodynamic counselling, developing my clinical experience across different therapeutic settings including Cruse Bereavement Support, Mind (Mental Health Charity) and the Koan Private Therapy Practice in London.

I work (both short and long term) with adult clients, from a myriad of social and cultural backgrounds, presenting with a range of emotional concerns and difficulties.

Alongside studying psychology and training as a therapist, I have enjoyed a career in project and change management in financial services.

Through this, I developed the ability to quickly analyse situations, constantly help to solve problems, and support people to remain calm in stressful situations. I also have a strong track record in helping people develop career and life skills, using both mentoring and coaching techniques.

As a registered member of BACP, I undertake regular ongoing training (CPD - Continuing Professional Development, minimum 30 hours per annum) to refresh and enhance my skills and knowledge.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I see clients in my home in Gerrards Cross which is conveniently located just off the A40 (with easy parking) and a 10-minute walk from the village and mainline station.

I can also offer online sessions as required.

Mindful of the significant investment (emotion, time, and money) clients make to attend therapy, I regularly seek client feedback and review how the work is progressing.
