About me

I work as an integrative counsellor, which means that I offer different types of therapy to suit your needs. Whether you're seeking counselling because you have suffered abuse (sexual/ physical), experiencing depression/ anxiety, have lost a loved one, or you just don't feel yourself at the moment, I have a number of tools available to help us work through whatever is going on for you.

I have a warm, compassionate and understanding nature, recognising that everyone is unique.  I will tailor our therapy sessions to accommodate your needs.

I am particularly passionate about supporting people who have suffered from trauma.  Each person reacts differently to traumatic situations due to our individual nature, and the types of trauma can range from being the victim of a crime, the tragic loss of a loved one/ child, to PTSD and sexual/ physical abuse to name just a few. I have done a lot of research into the effects trauma has on the mind and body, and how it affects our ability to function day to day. Very often trauma can become trapped in the body without us even realising it. We may wonder why we react in a certain way, become angry/ irritable for no apparent reason or struggle to deal with various situations.  Through our work together we can create a safe space for us to unpack this together.

While talking therapy can help; for those who have been impacted by trauma, talking does not always get to the root of the issue.  I therefore offer a practical problem focused approach through the use of Emotion Freedom Techniques (EFT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Rewind therapy.

It takes courage to reach out for help. I offer a free no obligation consultation to give you the opportunity to see if I’m the right person to work with you, and ask any questions you may have. If you are ready to embark on a journey to find the real you, then please send me a message or give me a call.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work in both private practice, and for a registered charity which supports people who are feeling low, whether it be from life events or due to mood disorders.

When we experience depression and anxiety this can affect our ability to sleep and function in the way we need to.  I offer clients the opportunity to really feel heard. So often we can feel forgotten and ignored, and rather than speaking out, we try and please others by agreeing with them and not saying how we really feel.  Through my work as a therapist, I help clients to find freedom from anxiety and depression and to feel more empowered in their relationships with others.

I have also worked with young people (and adults) who are experiencing OCD, eating disorders and separation anxiety. Trying to navigate through the difficulties that young people face can be difficult, however I can offer a practical and problem-focused approach to help you through whatever is dragging you down.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
