About me

I am an experienced person-centred psychotherapist offering a safe confidential and empathic therapeutic space to adults seeking support within one to one therapy. My approach as a therapist is to offer humanness and a non-judgemental attitude to foster the optimum conditions for a positive therapeutic relationship. I believe this attitude can best support your progress, and to ensure this I will draw upon my knowledge of theory gained in training and the use of creative practical skills. These skills have fine-tuned through experience obtained working within a multidisciplinary team in several health care settings. I am passionate about my work within private practice and facilitating individuals to explore personal solutions in life at your own pace.

I work both long and short term with a variety of issues and embrace individuation, plurality and diversity within my practice.

Training, qualifications & experience

My background working within numerous healthcare settings as part of a multidisciplinary team has incorporated therapeutic group facilitation, workshops, mindfulness, body scan meditation and detox acupuncture.

My focus has been on working with adults who are struggling with self-destructive behaviour. Such as addiction, co-dependency, self-harm, body image, suicidal ideation and post-traumatic stress disorder. Alongside working with dyslexia, autism, depression, grief, social isolation, anxiety, low self-esteem, and mood disorders.

I work at The Priory Hospital Group in the dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT) team. Within this role, I deal with all mental health needs such as self-harm, suicidal ideation, addiction, eating disorders, depression, loss, bereavement, low-self esteem and low self-worth. I gain experience which supports my work in private practice and builds upon my foundations as a person-centred therapist, enabling me to work with dual diagnosis, borderline personality disorder or other mental health problems which may threaten personal well-being, relationships, safety or work. It is part of my hope to support individuals to identify and change negative thinking patterns and move towards positive behavioural changes.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
