About me

A professional Counselling/Psychotherapy And Mindfulness service for adults, young people and Counselling students with an experienced counsellor, working sensitively and effectively with a wide range of issues. Currently working online from a quiet location between Chichester and Arundel.

Welcome to my profile. I am a Bacp (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) registered and accredited counsellor with over 14 years of experience in working with clients. I offer a confidential, accepting and safe space in which a client can talk freely and openly about themselves and their issues with support, and without judgement. Counselling is sought for many different reasons and can be used in different ways to explore our human suffering in the different forms it comes or it can used be to facilitate self discovery and personal development. Counselling can help us to clarify things, find solutions, understand ourselves and situations better, increase confidence, identify resources and strengths and see things from a different perspective. Of course it can be challenging at times but the healthy therapeutic journey is always an interesting and enriching experience

As a Humanistic and Transpersonal counsellor I regard awareness and the therapeutic relationship between therapist and client to be central to the growth, healing and change that emerges from the work. I work with what the client brings to the session and integrate as appropriate techniques from many counselling models including CBT, NLP, TA and ACT.

As I have practiced Mindfulness for over 20 years, the awareness that I have gained from this naturally underpins my work with very effective results. I offer a six week Mindfulness course for training in Mindfulness. If relevant, appropriate and required I often combine counselling with Mindfulness training in my sessions with clients. If we are fully rooted in and give attention to the natural functioning of Mindful Awareness within us then we have a refuge, a place to rest within, whatever may be going on for us in the realm of thought, feeling, relationship, circumstance. As this is functioning in everyone all the time, in my work as a counsellor I feel it often very necessary to help clients to connect to this space within themselves to bring into recognition the insight, clarity and calm that is there, but often hidden behind the attention on the turbulence of the outer life, or thoughts and feelings. This then allows us to come to know that aspect within ourselves, and be able to connect with it more habitually in our day to day life, allowing a calmer and more grounded response to our inner and outer experiences.

My journey as a therapist was originally in the field of body therapies. I initially sought counselling training to deepen my understanding of how to respond appropriately with clients when they opened up to me during their healing sessions with me. I found this counselling skills training totally absorbing and felt the pull and desire to pursue the training to a degree level. I now concentrate my energies fully on my Counselling and Mindfulness work.

If you would like to make an appointment with me please contact me via email or telephone or email. I will usually respond within 24 hours. We will arrange an initial session (I offer a free half hour meeting session) which will give us an opportunity to meet and to discuss your needs from Counselling and also ask any questions, you are then free to decide if it feels right for us to work together and if you would like to book further sessions with me. Follow up sessions are initially usually weekly, preferably at the same time and day. The sessions can be short term (working in a solution focussed way) or open ended, this will be discussed and decided upon at the initial session and open to review as we proceed.

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, I hope to hear from you soon.
