About me

Hello, my name is Alison and I am a qualified and registered Counsellor. My approach is integrative which means I am trained in several theories so that I can tailor my work to your specific needs.

I work with adults, couples, children (5+) and teens and adapt my work to age/developmental stage and the issues that you would like to work on with me. My work with children is generally play-based and creative but I happily bring these into sessions with teens and adults.

I offer a confidential and non-judgmental space in quiet and secure therapy rooms in Chislehurst/Bickley and Sidcup. I am able to work in Sevenoaks on request. Online therapy is available for those based in the UK.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a fully qualified counsellor and in addition to my private work, I volunteer at a local counselling charity and with a national charity providing counselling in schools. I have additional training/qualifications in the following:

  • Counselling children and young people
  • Working with neurodivergent clients, with a specialist interest and training in autistic girls
  • Couples Counselling
  • specialist training in baby loss and child bereavement through PETALS and the Foundation for Infant Loss
  • Breathwork coach
  • Children's Meditation tutor
  • Makaton
  • Pain Management
  • Animal Assisted Play Therapy L1
  • TA101
  • Online Counselling
  • Safeguarding (adults and children)

CPD is an important part of my work and I undertake regular CPD in areas relevant to my work

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
