About me

Hello, my name is Alisanne.

I am here to work with you along a journey to explore your experiences, unconscious thoughts, feelings and behaviours by providing you with a safe space, free from judgement and discrimination.  This will enable you to have a greater insight into who you are, with the confidence and the clarity to tackle issues facing you so that you are able to thrive.

Clients have described me as genuine and caring, easy to talk to and a clear communicator.  My approach is warm and authentic, putting what’s best for you at the heart of our work together to create the positive impact you want to see.  I am empathic and will build a connection with you as an individual so that you feel seen, heard and empowered.  I will meet you where you are at, understanding you as a unique individual with your own life experiences and perspectives.  I will offer you both high challenge and high support so that you will feel encouraged, strengthened and nurtured, even when we are exploring difficult – perhaps painful – issues together.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work therapeutically on a one to one basis with those experiencing a range of issues, including (but not limited to) anxiety, depression, bereavement, and relationship issues.  I am an integrative therapist, meaning that our work together will use a range of tools and approaches to best work for you. I have experience in engaging and supporting a diverse range of people, working across genders, cultures, socioeconomic, faith and non-faith backgrounds.

As a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP), I follow the ethos and guidelines of the association. I have completed a MSc in Therapeutic Counselling and have experience in working for a national mental health charity.

The decision to reach out and seek counselling is not always an easy one and takes courage.  When the time feels right, I look forward to hearing from you so that we can discuss starting our work together.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
