About me

Seeking help when life feels overwhelming can be an act of courage, especially when we think we should be able to sort ourselves out and each stage of your life brings its unique challenges.

Are you starting to live your life independently and feel confused about the direction you want to take? Struggling with your intimate relationships, or you’re still looking for a partner? You might want to become a parent and are aware of the unsolved problems your own childhood left behind.

Or maybe you are a parent and find it difficult to relate to your child? You find yourself without purpose and wondering why life feels empty? Your children have grown, are living their own lives and the void their leaving the nest feels overwhelming? If, on top of any of the above, you experience other difficulties, no matter how emotionally resilient you are, your distress might feel significant.

All of these life transitions are natural, and the struggles brought with each are as unique as we each are. Sometimes they are more destabilising than expected and it is normal to feel vulnerable.

Whether you find yourself in one of the above scenarios or face another difficulty, I can support you in finding your way through the challenges you are facing.

I also work with couples who want to reach a more harmonious relationship or who want to overcome specific issues arising from unsolved problems or different styles of communication.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a warm, empathic counsellor offering a safe and confidential space for you to explore and overcome your challenges. I have previous experience working with clients struggling with self-image issues, loss, grief and bereavement, anxiety, depression, and self-confidence to name but a few.

I have trained at Metanoia Institute, and I have a BSc (HONS) in Humanistic Counselling.

I have additional training and a passion for supporting people who struggle to manage their weight, aware of the stigma, shame and additional health challenges associated with weight gain and obesity.

I am flexible, approachable, and caring and I work with my clients collaboratively by inviting them to express their preferences, success stories and challenges. Living in different countries throughout my life, I have a deep understanding of the difficulties one faces when adapting to new cultures and new ways of being. This has helped me shape a flexible way of thinking and working with my clients, my ultimate purpose being to support you in reaching your goals and living the life you want.

Having a safe and confidential space to explore your difficulties can be a healing experience in itself; however, if you need or prefer a more hands-on approach, we can include various practices in our sessions, such as breathing, somatic, creative work and psychoeducation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
