About me

Welcome, I’m Alanah/Ally. I am a warm and approachable person and I am here to support you with whatever you would like to bring to your counselling sessions. No matter the issue, we will work through it together, at your pace whether that is long-term or time-limited. I offer counselling from a Humanistic Framework, which means that I work with each person as the individual that they are, building a therapeutic relationship based on non-judgement, empathy, safety, and warmth. I also work from a Trauma-Informed approach and work to support neurodivergent people through Neurodiversity Affirming Practice. I work from a confidential therapy room in Waterlooville - as well as online. I am fully insured, DBS checked and work with adults aged 18 and over. I offer one-to-one, 50 minute sessions at a pace set by you.

People begin their counselling journey for many different reasons. You might be feeling anxious, depressed, have low self-esteem or feel uncomfortable in your own skin and be looking to empower yourself and build your self-confidence. You may be noticing traits about yourself which align with neurodivergence such as ADHD, Dyspraxia or Autism (whether formally diagnosed or self-diagnosed) and want to explore this in a safe and affirming space. You may be feeling stuck or on the verge of a life change, be needing space to talk through difficult emotions or experiences in your life, or you might find yourself reliving the same patterns and want to change. You also may be wanting to learn more about yourself and deepen your personal experience on life’s journey. Whatever the reason, I can be here to go on this journey with you and offer you a safe and non-judgemental environment to explore these things - to help you build resilience, to begin to heal and to grow.

I welcome people from all walks of life, backgrounds, religions/spiritual experience, ethnicities, disabilities, neurodivergence and I am an active LGBTQIA+ ally.

I understand that taking the first step to looking after your own wellbeing can be difficult, but whenever you are ready, I will offer you a confidential space free from judgment. I will meet you as the person you are and offer you empathy and acceptance around whatever you wish to bring to counselling. You are welcome to contact me when you feel ready to.

****I aim to respond to all enquiries within 24 hours- please note that sometimes my emails responding to enquiries end up in spam/junk folders so if you have not heard from me within 24 hours please check your junk/spam folder.****

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
