About me

Authenticity, an appropriate humour, warmth and passion are among the qualities that I bring to my work. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space within which you can explore you concerns, fears and struggles. My central approach is Person-Centred.

The therapeutic relationship is central to my work and I believe that every person holds within them the capacity for personal growth. I don't label or diagnose: I don't have a magic wand but I will be with every step of the way as you venture in to new territory in a safe and unhurried place. I trust you to find your own path to new way of being in the world, offering you some signposts and some smiles on the way.
The way we work will be dependent on what you are comfortable with.

Anxiety, depression and bereavement are just a few of the areas I work with. I will be there, present and focused, to hear and see you.

I have worked in a hospice, undergoing training in bereavement and coming to understand through this, and my own experience, a lot more about the process of grieving and the acuteness of loss.

I have worked successfully with many parents and children who are struggling with their relationships.  I have experienced first-hand the stresses and the joys of being a parent and bring this experience to sit behind my work with you.

I have worked with young people for many years as a dedicated English teacher in secondary schools, and in a University counselling service. I have an appreciation of the pressures that the current education service places on young people and I have worked successfully with many young people and students who are finding life a strange, somewhat baffling and even a frightening, experience.

I am on the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists having passed the Certificate of Proficiency.

I work in Woodseats.
As a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists, I am committed to abide by their Ethical Framework which promotes good practice.
I have monthly supervision and attend training workshops in order to
support my professional development.

I can also bring in a spiritual paradigm that will inform our work and that offers the tools to assemble you life the way that you choose and helps you to be who you truly are.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
