About me

I am a counsellor and psychotherapist who works with adult couples and individuals of all ages and backgrounds. I create a safe, non-judgemental space to listen and help you explore issues with empathy and compassion.

My clinical framework is psychodynamic, meaning that I help clients consider how past experiences may relate to their current feelings, behaviour patterns and relationships, with the aim of uncovering the root cause of the problem.

You may be feeling unhappy, alone or just that something is not quite right.  Talking freely in a safe, non-judgemental space will allow patterns of behaviour to come to light which therapy can help make sense of.

Our sessions will enable us to look together at your feelings and situation, and understand how old patterns of behaviour can leave you feeling stuck and hopeless - paving the way for you to think about how things might be different.

Couples therapy

Our couple relationships can be a great source of hope and satisfaction, but when they take a wrong turn, they can leave us feeling alone, resentful and disappointed.  You may be experiencing difficulties communicating, frequent arguments, betrayal or may be struggling with major life events.

Couple therapy can foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and the relationship we have created together with our partner. Couples often find that expressing their difficult feelings in front of an impartial, trained therapist can provide relief – that they have come together to work on something important to them both and are able to gain valuable insight into their problems. By reflecting on what each partner brings to the relationship, blame can be relinquished, leaving space for collaboration, empathy and understanding to flourish.

Though there is no one-size-fits-all solution, many couples find that it takes only a short period of therapy to enable them to make constructive and long-lasting changes that benefit and strengthen their relationship.

Individual therapy

You may choose to come to individual therapy because you are struggling with a major life decision or you may be feeling unhappy or dissatisfied or have trouble sustaining healthy relationships with others.  You may be feeling anxious, sad or lacking in self-confidence.

Individual therapy focuses on our thought processes and behaviours, and the significance we attribute to particular patterns and ways of being.  The opportunity to be heard in a safe, confidential and non-judgmental space can allow you to become more aware of your actions, coping mechanisms and vulnerabilities - fostering the chance for long-term change.

Training, qualifications & experience

Training, qualifications and memberships

I trained at Tavistock Relationships in London where I also work as a visiting clinician. I hold a Postgraduate Diploma in Couple and Individual Psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy which is accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I am a Graduate Member of Tavistock Relationships Association of Psychotherapists and Counsellors and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and comply with the BACP’s Ethical Framework for Good Practice, including the importance of confidentiality.

I attend regular supervision and professional development programmes and workshops to enhance my knowledge and development in psychotherapy.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

Starting therapy
I can be contacted by phone or email, which I will respond to by the end of the next working day. We can then have a short phone conversation, and, if appropriate, schedule an initial consultation, before committing to ongoing work. This consultation will allow you to decide if working together would be the right thing for you.

It is important that you feel comfortable with me so that a relationship based on trust can develop between us. It also allows me to be sure that embarking on therapy is the best way forward for you in your circumstances. If we decide to proceed with ongoing work, we will agree a day and time for weekly sessions.

My fee for initial consultations is £80 for individuals and £110 for couples. I have a limited number of places for those on low incomes - please contact me to discuss in more detail.
