About me

As a qualified and registered therapist, I have worked in various settings including community centres, schools, universities, refugee services and in private practice. I am passionate about providing warm, creative, and culturally inclusive therapy. I have experience working therapeutically with young and older adults from diverse backgrounds. Having lived in several countries, I offer therapy in English, German, French, Spanish and Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian.

At some point, most of us may come to feel anxious, low, overwhelmed or simply stuck. Perhaps life events have left you feeling lost, confused, or distressed. Past experiences, present difficulties, and worries about the future can weigh us down, and it can be difficult to see a way out. Maybe you’ve been coping so far, but things now feel overwhelming; perhaps it has been this way for a while and talking to friends or family may not be enough or appropriate.

Each person who enters therapy has a unique story, a unique combination of experiences and circumstances. We all have different strengths and concerns. The starting point is to come as we are.

Whether you are dealing with a specific issue or would like to explore your existence in a broader sense, therapy can be an opportunity to create space in your life to consider where you are now, and where you would like to go from here.

People come for different reasons to therapy, but I am best trained to help if you:

  • Feel stressed, anxious or overwhelmed
  • Have a challenging personal or professional relationship
  • Struggle with confidence or self-esteem
  • Are in the transition into parenthood
  • Have arrived in a new country and are facing all the changes that this can bring
  • Would like to grow awareness of your cultural identity

My training is integrative, meaning I draw on different approaches depending on what works best for you. If you decide to come to therapy with me, you will be the one setting the agenda, pace and topics of discussion. I work with the understanding that you are the expert of your life, and my job is to support you on your journey to grow your confidence and trust in yourself.

I am bound by the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) code of ethics and am subject to their professional conduct procedure.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Expatriates

I offer therapy to expatriates in the UK and internationally.

Having moved countries and lived abroad for almost half of my life, I have experienced the emotional stress of finding my way to a new culture.

Making plans to live abroad or moving back after a long period can be exciting at the outset. However, it can often turn out to be a challenging experience.

When you become an expatriate you arrive into a new culture; there is often a new job with a new set of colleagues to get to know, or maybe you followed a family member and are left to find your way and a new social and professional life to nurture.

Some feelings of nervousness and fear are normal, and these feelings may be temporary and easy to handle. For some people though deeper feelings of fear, loneliness and isolation from family, friends and colleagues can set in and these feelings can become difficult to handle.
