About me

"Sometimes it takes dealing with a disability – the trauma, the relearning, the months of rehabilitation therapy – to uncover our true abilities and how we can put them to work for us in ways we may have never imagined." - Tammy Duckworth

Making the decision to have therapy can bring up feelings of mixed emotions, coupled with fear, psychological overwhelm or more. Having received therapy myself, I can vouch for how transformative the process can be. As I hear you alongside this journey, I aim to support you in finding inner peace and healing.

About me & my practice

My name is Ama and I’m an integrative-relational psychotherapist offering short and long-term counselling to support clients through their experiences. I provide warmth, personal growth and self-exploration within a safe, non-judgmental setting.

In addition to my private practice, I have a vast amount of experience working in NHS settings working with clients who have mental health needs. I am able to offer specialist services for those with neurosis, psychosis and trauma related issues. I have also acquired a particular interest for pregnancy related problems which I aim at supporting such clients with processing difficult and painful experiences.

My integrative-relational approach to counselling assimilates person-centred ideas with psychodynamic theory. This focuses on identifying deep-rooted issues and how they affect your present life. By being led by you, we are able to highlight and challenge potential patterns that could restore you as I believe that your power and strength is from within.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
