About me

I am a person-centred therapist and can offer telephone, online or face to face sessions, including walk and talk therapy. Our time together will be confidential, non judgmental and I will provide a safe environment to allow you the space to explore and address your worries and help you achieve your chosen goals.

Loss is something we have or will all experience in our lives and although I work with a wide variety of issues, (such as anxiety, depression, relationship & family difficulties) I do specialise in loss and have had specialist training in bereavement through Cruse Bereavement Support. Although the training was  specifically around the grief we may experience after losing a loved one, it is also relevant in the following areas:

  • Loss of a loved one
  • Loss of physical function through illness or injury
  • Loss of a career
  • Loss of identity
  • Loss of relationship

As well as my own private practice, I am a volunteer for Cruse Bereavement services and have been working with clients around grief since January 2021. During training, I also undertook a voluntary placement with Broadway Counselling working with clients around relationship issues, depression and anxiety.

Outside of counselling I have an elite sports background and understand how loss can impact your everyday life and negatively affect your mental health. It is this area of work that I have a particular passion for. I am also a carer for my nephew who is disabled, so I fully understand loss of future and some of the worries and concerns that go with being a carer.

Injury, anxiety, retirement, rejection, identity and bereavement are particular areas of interest but I also work with clients around relationship issues, sexuality (including clients from the LGBTQ community), low self esteem and low confidence.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information

Finding the right counsellor is really important, but it can be confusing and even a bit scary. You need to choose someone you can connect with, so I offer an initial 30 minute telephone consultation free of charge to discuss your needs and talk about how we could work effectively together.

If you decide I am the right therapist for you, there will be a short assessment form to complete and then sessions can be carried out online, on the telephone or face to face including walk and talk therapy.
