About me

We are continuing to live in intense and challenging times. The multi-levelled impact of Covid on families and individuals of all ages, plus rising living costs and global unrest are all adding to the stress of daily life.  You may be someone struggling to keep things going at home, juggling responsibilities. You may be feeling a sense of something lost, that life is not panning out as you thought it would.

The demands of getting back into everyday life and work, reconnecting with others, going back to work, school or university, can mean high anxiety levels for many with nervous systems feeling stretched and stressed.  As a result, self-esteem can plummet and unhealthy patterns of behaviour can re-emerge. For some, reintegration is still too much and we can feel isolated, trapped and sometimes very low.

How can I help?

Understanding why we feel the way we do and how we can support ourselves is something that talking therapy can help with. Whether you want counselling support with immediate worries and fears or whether you want a deeper more psychotherapeutic and body focused exploration of yourself, I can offer a therapeutic space to match your needs.

I am a registered, fully qualified counsellor and psychotherapist working with both adults and young people. I have worked in many different areas both in and out of the NHS mental health system. These include anxiety, depression, trauma and bereavement, with extensive experience of working with young people and the multitude of challenges faced by this age group, including gender dysphoria and issues around sexuality.

I am also a qualified equine assisted therapist, working outside within the natural environment, offer a deeper, more somatic and sensory trauma -informed practice.

I am a UKCP registered psychotherapist and abide by both the UKCP and BACP ethical guidelines.  Sessions are confidential and can be in person at my home, at the horse yard or online.  I also offer walking talking therapy from my home.  Again this is a more immersive experience, offering an alternative way of looking at how we can support and understand ourselves as an integral part of the natural world, together with the benefits of being out in the countryside.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post Graduate Clinical Diploma and an MSc in Contemporary Person-Centred Psychotherapy and Application from the Metanoia Institute in London.

I have been working in counselling and psychotherapy for 11 years. During this time I spent 6 years working with young people in the NHS mental health system which gave me a broad range of experience with mental health issues in the 12 - 24 age group.

I also spent 3 years in bereavement work at Woking Hospice and at Petersfield Counselling Services working with domestic and sexual abuse, alongside working in private practice with young adults at my home in Witley.

I am also a qualified equine-assisted therapist working with both individuals and groups. My training took place at the Heart Holistic Horse and Pony Centre in Ockham, Surrey.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
