About me

Anxiety? Depression? Relationship's? Life changes? Stress? to name but a few.

Life changes can trigger many difficult issues. Examples include, changing job, relationship issues, loss, revelations the list can go on. At times it can help to talk things through in a safe confidential space.
I offer a space where I will listen, working collaboratively with you to explore your deepest thoughts and feelings. Talking it through can help to overcome and change unhelpful and negative thoughts and behaviours. In the process you can start to reassess and to unravel whatever is troubling you, so enabling you to find alternative ways of dealing with it.

I can draw on a range of therapies including CBT, Psychodynamic and a few others as well as clinical hypnotherapy, which tends to work well with anxiety. My experience as a psychotherapist has taught me that one approach does not suit everyone and that it's my job to gauge which works for you.

My Work

I work a lot with anxiety and childhood trauma, in it's many forms. This may be pervasive feelings of generalised anxiety or anxiety around particular experiences -  social anxiety, for instance. I have found that a combination of exploring the history and possible causes of the anxiety, coupled with some CBT and changing those habitual patterns, can be extremely effective in promoting growth and positive change.

If you are feeling anxious, angry, depressed or having difficulties in your relationship? If right now life's events seem overwhelming, having a place to be heard, supported and understood may help. Or perhaps you're unable to put your finger on what is wrong but just feel that something is, then you may find delving into therapy can help to make sense of an issue.

I provide confidential, non-judgmental therapy in a non-discriminatory practice for both individuals and couples. I deliver it in a relational style. For therapy to be a success, I believe a good therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is essential, which requires commitment from both client(s) and therapist.

Having worked with many different individuals and couples, I have experience with issues including abuse, anger, addiction, anxiety depression, bereavement, eating disorders, identity issues, relationship issues, low self-esteem and low self-confidence, to name but a few.

The first step to gaining your autonomy back is to admit you may require a little help, why not try.

Training, qualifications & experience

I'm BACP qualified Therapist. I am also a clinical hypnotherapist, and a level 5 CBT, (cognitive behaviour therapy) practitioner . To add to this list I am now in training to become a clinical supervisor.

The list goes on as I continue to maintain my knowledge in CPD training and course's.

My knowledge is relayed to my clients in whatever way it helps.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

I know, from experience, that calling a therapist can be daunting and embarrassing, possibly, but ask yourself this, 'If I don't try to change, anyway I can, how can aid and let it change happen'.

We go to gym to benefit our bodies and health, a therapist, is the like a personal trainer for the mind.

Call me with any questions you may have. I offer a free 10 minute consultation and I will tell you, honestly, if I can help you.
