About me

Are you struggling to cope with the challenges life keeps throwing at you? Are you feeling increasingly stressed, alone and overwhelmed? Is your confidence being negatively impacted by your ability to make even the smallest of decisions?

Reaching out for support can be both the hardest thing to do but also the most rewarding, when you start on your journey of recovery to better understanding yourself.

What can you expect from me? A relationship, essentially. I truly believe in creating a relationship that works for you, and that can support you in becoming more who you are.

I believe it is important to create an environment where you feel safe and supported to empower you to explore your feelings and emotions without judgement and at your own pace.

Whoever you are, you’re welcome, whether you are looking just for a space to offload or perhaps you are just tired of pretending everything is fine. Together we can look at this, where is it coming from, and what impact it is having on your day-to-day life.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have over 10 years of experience which has included supporting adults suffering from the effects of domestic and sexual abuse, survivors of childhood sexual abuse, bereavement, and loss. As well as people struggling from a wide range of life’s challenges including relationship difficulties, family conflicts, substance misuse, anxiety, depression, panic attacks, lack of confidence, self-harm, anger as well as aggression. While this isn’t an exhaustive list and I have experience in many other fields, it gives an indication of the work I’ve done.

I have a degree in Person Centred Counselling, and I practise an integrative approach, offering a range of skills and tools for today’s ever-changing environment. I believe that everyone is unique and not one size fits all.

As well as my counselling degree, I am a qualified Supervisor and have a level four qualification working with children in secondary schools.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I adhere to the Code of Ethics and Practice to ensure I work ethically and within safe guidelines and I also receive regular supervision.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
