About me

My Name is Soraya and I am a fully qualified and experienced Therapeutic counsellor working with Adults, Teenagers, Children and families.

I work creatively and intuitively, offering a safe, non-judgemental and supportive environment, to help assist you in exploring your feelings. Freeing yourself from unhelpful patterns that are holding you back from enjoying life and accepting things we are unable to change.

I offer a tailored service to your individual needs.

As well as working in private practice I have experience working in a youth organisation and both secondary and primary schools, working with pupils and their families. Working with a variety of issues: Low self-esteem, Anxiety, loss, Bereavement, relationship difficulties, bullying, abuse and sexual abuse. There is often a lot of focus on Anger work, using creative exercises to work around healthy anger.

I currently work as a School Counsellor in a Primary School, working therapeutically through creative play and a sessional therapist working with Bereaved families.

I am a Reiki Practitioner, which can help toward balancing mind and body to help bring about positive wellbeing. Reiki can be helpful to combine with talking therapies such as counselling as well as alone.

I work with issues such as Depression, Anxiety, Stress, loss, Bereavement, Self-esteem and personal development.

Making the first move is never easy.

If you would like an appointment please call so your journey can begin.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
