About me

I warmly welcome you to my profile. I appreciate taking the step to access psychotherapy and counselling is a big one and can bring up a lot of feelings in itself. I want you to know that I see you and I am here to support in the best way I can to contribute to your wellbeing and be a part of your mental health journey. I invite you to connect with me so we can work through these feelings together. I would like to provide you with the support of making sense of these emotions within a therapeutic safe space.

I am an accredited UKCP integrative psychotherapist and a registered MBACP psychotherapeutic counsellor. I have been working with a range of difficulties  with both adult and child clients. I am offering sessions for adults, young people and couples.

Regarding my journey in finding psychotherapy and counselling, this has been an extensive one in which I have wanted to support others from a young age due to personal experiences. I have always had a passion for being there for others and working through difficulties with another person and this stemmed into pursuing a career in supporting others. I take pride in my work and strive to be the best version of the therapist I can be to support the wellbeing of others.

My working approach is integrative with person centred at the core. I also assimilate existential and attachment concepts into my approach. My client is always at the centre of my focus so you can lead me on your journey to allow me to understand your needs and experiences.

I am a British South Asian Muslim woman and this is something that allows me to connect with my niche group who may have difficulties with identity and understanding their cultural stance within a modern western community. I support individuals with making sense of the stigma and difficulty that comes with fitting into the current society. This is something I support individuals with, however I have also worked with anxiety, depression, trauma and abuse extensively. Being a British South Asian can come with difficulties in itself, with difficulties in connecting with our older generations and feeling heard, especially when it comes to mental health. Or it can be navigating your way through life whilst balancing the two cultures and finding a place that feels right for you between the two. This is something I see and factor in regardless of what may bring you to therapy.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have completed my MSc Integrative Psychotherapy to work with both adult and children (Young People). I have completed all components of a Post Graduate Diploma and I am a qualified Psychotherapist. I am registered with BACP and I am currently in the process of being an accredited member of the UKCP.

In addition, I have a Graduate Certificate in counselling and a BA Hons in Sociology and Psychology.

I have worked in various counselling centres within Birmingham to gain experience with both adult and child clients. Some of these counselling clinics are St. Martin's and Newman Health and Wellbeing. I have also done counselling in a trauma clinic to support young people with overcoming and coping with their traumatic experiences.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
