Dr Sarah Swan
About me
I am a Consultant Clinical Psychologist with over 20 years experience of working with individuals with a range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, addictions, abuse and low self-esteem. I draw upon a number of evidence-based models to ensure I support people in the most effective way.
I use traditional cognitive-behavioural therapy as well as more recently developed models (schema therapy, ACT, dialectical behaviour therapy, mindfulness based cognitive therapy, EMDR) to help people in a way that suits them and can enable them to make timely progress on their individual goals.
I am flexible in offering short or longer term therapy based on individual needs, preferences and finances. I offer daytime and evening sessions in a lovely space with ample parking directly outside. Situated close to Midhurst and a short drive from Haslemere, Chichester and other areas within West Sussex, Hampshire & Surrey.
I also offer sessions via video call. Online therapy offers greater flexibility and has been shown in research to be as effective as face to face.
I am registered with BUPA, Aviva, AXA and Overland Health Insurers.
Recent client feedback includes:
"I would recommend you to anyone"
"You have helped me to understand something that was beyond my comprehension.....You have changed my life"

As well as being registered with the HCPC, I am also Chartered with the British Psychological Society and an Associate Fellow. I am also Director for England for the Association for Clinical Psychologists.
I have had several publications in peer-reviewed academic journals in the areas of shame, eating disorders, personality disorders and staff support.
Member organisations
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

Health and Care Professions Council
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
