About me

Finding a therapist who you feel really "gets you" is not always easy and can take time. Whatever is bringing you to counselling at this time in your life,  I offer an open and honest space to share your feelings without fear of rejection.  From personal experience, I know how invaluable therapy can be when you share your vulnerabilities and receive compassion without judgement in return and I would be privileged to help in your search for the answers that you are looking for. Together we would work to find a way forward to help you source more peace within yourself.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered person centred counsellor with the BACP and have work with clients experiencing trauma, bereavement, loneliness, gender dysphoria, anxiety,  and emotional and physical abuse.

Being a therapist energises me and I feel privileged to work with people who are brave enough to share their deepest fears and wants in order to understand themselves better and to move forward emotionally.  For the last 35 years, I have worked as a professional musician and educator, working creatively with  adults and children. I have found that when it's difficult to find the words to express ourselves, bringing creativity into the therapy session can offer a different outlet to explore and make sense of our emotions and behaviours.

I completed a Counselling Certificate in 2018 with Cosca through Strathclyde University and in 2021 I completed a PG Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy with Persona through Aberdeen University. I have an advanced diploma qualification in Working with Polyvagal theory in Person Centred Counselling.

I have worked with clients in an EAP setting, a mental health charity and for an organisation offering affordable counselling. I offer short and long term session work.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
