About me
Thank you for visiting my profile.
I offer face to face and online counselling.
I have over 15 years experience working in different settings including The Youth Offending Team, The Samaritans, Family Matters, Time4Change (drugs and alcohol), Devon and Cornwall Police, a Plymouth primary school as Parent Support, Plymouth MIND and the NHS (Primary Care).
Each place that I have volunteered or worked has given me new experiences to make me a more experienced and knowledgeable therapist, every client brings something different and each client is unique.
How I work with you as a client will be an individual process, I will draw on all my knowledge, experience and theories to suit your way of thinking and working.
I always offer a free 30 minute session so that I can get a complete understanding of your way of thinking, what is going on for you and how we are best to work with each other, not all therapies suit everyone.
At times life can become challenging and we allow ourselves to become overwhelmed with the stresses and strains of everyday life.
Everyday can become more difficult with mixed emotions and adverse behaviour which can sometimes leave us feeling empty and alone to which this can filter into everyday life including home, work, college and relationships.
However if you do feel that you are in mental health crisis please contact 111 or 999
I understand that choosing a therapist can be a daunting experience, you are choosing someone to which you are about to share your experiences, your life with, I want you to feel comfortable and secure as well as trusted and listened to in calm and private surroundings.
My gift to you is to help you understand what is going on in your life and help you change your behaviour to make a difference to your well being, with this I offer you warmth, understanding and empathy as well as a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space to feel relaxed in.
I love my work as a therapist, working with my clients and sharing their journey is a remarkably satisfying experience, I feel very privileged to be in this position to be trusted and respected.
I work with adult and young people
I work in Plymouth within a quiet private location which offers parking.
I am a member of the British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Some of the issues I work with include stress, anxiety, depression, bereavement, OCD, pre & post-natal depression, drugs & alcohol addiction, addictive behaviour, panic attacks, agoraphobia, many other phobias, sexual issues, bullying and much more

Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Additional information
I charge £45 per session, I am able to keep my costs down as I work from my house address so I don't have to pay for room hire.
Prices will be increasing in 2026 but I keep my present clients on the same tariff that they are already on.
I accept cash or payment by BACS, please bring to your session.
I offer an initial free 30 minute introductory session so that it gives you a chance to meet me and get used to my therapy room and it's beautiful surroundings. I believe that this gives you an understanding to how I work and I can get an insight on what is going on for you.
I offer discount to students including counselling students and under 18's ID required-please bring on initial contact.
My sessions are for 60 minutes, I offer a counselling service 5 days but at different times during the day.
I am also a Clinical Supervisor, please see my Supervisors page.
I do have clients who require certain times of the week for their appointments, if you are booked in and know that you are not going to make that session please let me know as soon as you can. If I have less than 24 hours notice to cancel an appointment then I will charge the full fee as I will probably not be able to fill the slot.

Further information
I love what I do, I love working with people, I am very passionate about mental health and learning how to live and manage it.
I haven't got a magic wand that will make everything go away but what I do have is a very open mind, a very good skillset to guide and support you throughout your journey. What I need from you is a willingness to want to change and work, I can't do this on my own so we need to work together to create change, this will come with it's up and downs but this is what will help channel your thought process and help you move with the feelings and emotions that are going on for you.
I have studied Psychology and Human behaviour as I am very passionate about how we process information, how we learn some behaviours from others and what we believe in as we develop.
Book a free 30 minute session with me and I have happy to discuss any queries and questions that you may have.
Oh, I also have a big yellow Labrador dog that just loves people and likes cuddles, he will only come and meet you if you allow, otherwise he will be sleeping or sniffing elsewhere in my house.
You can contact me preferably via email, text or phone, I will respond to your enquiry within 24 hours.
