About me

I provide virtual psychological therapy and counselling services within the UK.

I am a Registered Counselling Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council and a Chartered Psychologist through the British Psychological Society. I am originally from America and have approximately 8 years providing psychological therapy in the US and the UK. I enjoy working with adults, young people (age 15+), couples, and families. I am trained in several therapeutic approaches and integrate them to ensure I can tailor my approach to your needs. These approaches include person-centred therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, feminist therapy, the Gottman method, and I am currently training in internal family systems therapy.

How I Work:

No matter what you are going through, I am here to listen and support you. Whether you need a safe space to talk through your difficulties, want to learn new skills to cope with painful thoughts and feelings, or would like to work through traumatic experiences, my goal is to help meet those needs.

As a psychologist, I work with individuals and couples struggling with a range of difficulties including depression, anxiety, bipolar, addiction, personality disorders, interpersonal issues, career stress, complex trauma, pre-marital therapy, and stress within a family or relationship. I enjoy working with clients with diverse ethnicities, sexual orientations, and gender identities. I also have worked with clients with current or past experiences in the criminal justice system.

I always strive to work collaboratively with my clients. I may be the expert in psychological therapy, but you are the expert on your life. Together, we can work toward helping you achieve your mental health goals. The therapeutic relationship is core to my practice and my first goal is to provide you with a safe space in which you can develop trust and know that you will be completely accepted for exactly who you are. Some of the outcomes I strive for are increased confidence and the ability to set boundaries and handle life’s difficulties without becoming too overwhelmed. For couples, I also hope for better communication and increased intimacy, affection, and safety in the relationship.

After you contact me, I aim to offer you an initial appointment within two weeks. During this appointment, we will spend time thinking about what you are looking for from therapy and I will assess the therapeutic approach that would be most suitable for you. This is also an opportunity for us to start to get to know each other and from there we will make a decision together about whether we are a good fit and how we want to proceed. It is easier to make contact with me through email or text rather than by calling because I am often with clients during business hours. I aim to get back to you within 48 hours, although I always try to respond as promptly as I can.

Training, qualifications & experience

I achieved a doctorate in counselling psychology from Glasgow Caledonian University and registered as a counselling psychologist with HCPC. I am a licensed professional counsellor in America and have been practicing in the US and UK for approximately 8 years. I am a certified clinical trauma professional trained to treat complex trauma in individual and couple's therapy. I have also completed level 1 Gottman Training and integrate this approach into my couple's work. Additionally, I have completed training on dialectical behaviour therapy, trauma-informed cognitive behavioural therapy, and internal family systems therapy.

Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
