About me

BSc(Hons)/NCPS (Accred) Integrative Counsellor

Hello. I'm Sam. Thank you for considering my profile.

I understand that it is sometimes difficult to take the first step and you may be feeling nervous and apprehensive. My aim will be to help you feel comfortable. I will listen and provide a safe and confidential space for you to explore anything that may be confusing, painful or uncomfortable. Being heard for the first time allows us to unload some of our burdens.

You may feel like your thought processes are jumbled, you don’t know where to start and it feels like your mind is on a spin cycle. My aim is to help you calm your thoughts and slowly try and make sense of anything that is holding you back. I work from an integrative framework, this allows me to tailor the therapy to your needs. I use a combination of person-centred, cognitive behavioural therapy , psychodynamic and solution -focused. I am also a trained hypnotherapist and use mindfulness techniques.

I have been working for nearly two years as a volunteer counsellor at Emerging Futures counselling clients in the recovery phase of drug and alcohol addiction.

I also do some work at Sue Lambert helping clients who have suffered sexual abuse or sexual violence.

I write a monthly well-being column for a positive news website covering Norfolk and Suffolk.   https://folkfeatures.co.uk

My areas of interest are trauma, addiction, abuse and domestic violence, anxiety and grief. For a full listing please see my website.

My background: I have worked as a qualified nurse for 27 years, I have spent most of my career working in Critical Care. Working in this environment I've seen first-hand the effects that emotional and traumatic life events can have on individuals. my professional and personal experiences naturally led me towards this profession.

I work with adults 17+

I really look forward to welcoming you into my therapeutic space and walking alongside you on your journey
