About me

I am an integrative psychotherapist, which means I’m able to work with a myriad of modalities to suit your individual needs. The primary modalities I work with are attachment theory, cognitive behavioural therapy and person centred therapy. As a QPOC (queer person of colour) therapist who has had many different experiences of personal therapy over the years, cultivating acceptance, celebrating diversity and fostering inclusivity have become significant keystones in my own practice. I’ve had the opportunity to work with a variety of different issues (listed below) and client demographics over the years and am incredibly passionate about offering enduring compassion and care while encouraging and equipping you to build your own reservoir of the same.

My role as your therapist is to provide a warm, empathic and non-judgemental space for you to safely delve into what might be concerning you. I endeavour to create an atmosphere where you feel comfortable allowing your authentic self to emerge, knowing that this will be held, seen and respected. Through the process of therapy, I will gradually encourage you to take a look at your beliefs, behaviours, feelings and thought patterns and when appropriate, gently re-evaluate, strengthen or challenge them to collaboratively create a more positive and fulfilling framework through which to experience life.

There are a plethora of reasons one might access therapy, so whether you are looking for ways to alleviate stress and worry, make sustainable changes in your life, explore past experiences or get to know yourself better, you are always welcome to reach out!

My particular areas of interest are: working with LGBTQIA+ issues (sexual orientation, identity, questioning) and working with experiences around race, culture, identity and the intersection of the same.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy and a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology. I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) working towards accreditation. I am incredibly passionate about continuously updating and enhancing my competencies and have engaged with a number of different CPD trainings and workshops over the last few years in areas such as:

  • Addiction
  • Working with Eating Disorders
  • Working with Neurodiversity
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Schema Therapy
  • Gender Diversity

During my undergraduate degree, I worked extensively tutoring and teaching children and young people with special educational needs and specific learning difficulties. I have also been a practising integrative counsellor and psychotherapist at Green Lane Counselling and Psychotherapy in Derby for the last 2 years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
