About me

I am a BACP Registered Integrative Counsellor.

I often see clients struggling with anxiety, panic attacks, depression and relationship difficulties. I have also worked with clients who have experienced challenging traumas as well as addiction.

I practice humanistic and psychodynamic counselling (I'll explain more below). But I also see this through a Buddhist lens, as I trained for many years as a monk.

I see clients face to face, but also work a lot with clients in the USA and South Africa via on-line platforms such as Zoom and Skype.

I am from the U.K. originally.

I work with people of all ages. I have worked extensively in schools, and with adults, young adults and children from many different cultural and social backgrounds.

Humanistic and psychodynamic counselling in a nutshell: often clients will come to me with complex and difficult feelings. I provide a safe space for you to come to terms with these and understand how they manifest in the present moment and what may have caused them in the past. We will then discover new ways for you to relate to yourself so you become more aware of what triggers the difficult feelings and how best to process them in the here and now.

Some clients will want to work on these aspects of themselves for several months. For others, one or two sessions is enough.

It takes a brave leap of faith to come to therapy. But please know this work is non-judgemental and your opinions are respected and validated throughout the process.

You can email, call or text me to ask more questions.

Training, qualifications & experience

Part of my work involves Mindfulness practice. In this way we use our own insights and natural ability to find compassion. I trained for 7 years as a monk in this approach. I also have a UK level 4 diploma in therapeutic counselling and have worked in schools for 7 years. I have been a counsellor for 5 years.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
