About me

I offer Counselling and Psychotherapy to adults and young people aged 14 and over, for issues including depression, anxiety, relationship problems, abuse and trauma, and self harm.

I work in central Exeter, just one minutes walk from the high street. There is parking close by, and convenient links to public transport - Central Station is less than five minutes walk.

I offer short and longer term work, on specific issues such as anxiety, trauma and identity issues, or more general feelings of discontent or curiosity. I am trained and qualified to work with difficulties such as Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Depression and Personality Disorders.

I can also offer particular models such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT) to work through past trauma and abuse.

We can focus on a more specific issue, or just explore whatever arises for you.I will work at your pace, and always look to provide a safe space where you can explore your own journey as you choose.

Have a look at my website for further info and FAQ's.

I offer an initial session to all potential clients, at a reduced fee. This is your opportunity to find out more about how I work, what I can offer you, and if we feel we can work effectively together. There is no obligation to continue after the initial session.

Email me with your preferred days, and any questions, let's see if we can work through your challenges together.

I am a member of BACP and abide by their ethical code.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist, with a BSc Honours degree in psychology and Advanced Diploma in Counselling, Foundation in Psychotherapy (Transactional Analysis) and Advanced Diploma in Psychotherapy, Masters Level 7 (Transactional Analysis).

I also studied a Diploma in Relational Mindfulness at Karuna institute in 2015, to expand my approaches for client work.

My experience includes over 20 years working in one-to-one support, including Domestic Abuse and homelessness.
I have also worked with looked-after children, Young Offenders, and in Family Support.

More recently I have worked as lead facilitator on Pattern Changing courses for women affected by abusive relationships at a local charity, and as counsellor with young people who have experienced sexual abuse.

Currently, alongside my small private practice, I work for NHS Mental Health Services with young people and families, and also on the specialist Child Sexual Abuse Team.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
