About me

Hello there,

To introduce myself, I am integrative counsellor who has been in practice for four years. I use a variety of theories to suit the needs of my clients, and my work is always about the individual requirements of the person. My approach is based in neuroscience, and I will often refer to what is going on for you in the moment to bring your awareness to what you are feeling, as well as thinking. I am also open to creative ways of working.

I believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the most impactful part of therapy, so it's essential for you to find the right person with whom to forge an authentic relationship within an ethical framework. You are the expert, and I am guided by you, but I will challenge you with compassion, and support you to explore your relationship with others and yourself.

The clients with which I work come with all manner of difficulties, and include all aspects of diversity and identity, coming from a vast array of backgrounds and with a huge spectrum of life experience. Usually we will look at the past events in your life that have brought you to where you are, and shaped your development and styles of relating and attaching to others.

There are some things in life that we have to learn to accept, and others where change can be possible and positive. My aim is to bring into my clients' awareness what things are important to them and why, and what ways of being are useful or are habits that may have been adopted from the past, and have ceased to serve.

For me, it's not about what is 'wrong' with you, it's about what has happened to you. Even if you don't feel it, there is a lot that is 'right' with you, and in therapy we can explore and celebrate these things too.

I can't promise a 'quick fix' but I can promise that I will be there to support you to find a better way of being. There are times when this process might be difficult but I hope that it will also be empowering, rewarding and sometimes even enjoyable!

Further information can be found on my website, and feel free to drop me a line with any queries you might have.

Thank you for viewing my profile, and I wish you well in your search to find the help you need.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
