About me

Hello and welcome to my page. My name is Paula and I am a person-centred counsellor working with many of life’s issues, worries and concerns.

I aim to provide a safe non-judgmental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

People come to counselling for different reasons; anxiety, stress, bereavement, trauma, self-esteem etc. For some people this can involve exploring how to manage current life situations and for others it can lead us to look back to heal from past difficult experiences.

I experience us all as unique individuals and know that with the help and support of effective counselling we can find ways to shape and meet our own individual needs.

My main objective is to aim to offer the best opportunity to allow you to feel safe and comfortable to explore any unease you are experiencing around your well-being. To help you to find ways to lead a life that feels more aligned with who you are and the aspects of life that are of value to you.

When we are troubled, anxious, distressed counselling with a skilled counsellor in a therapeutic setting can help. The therapeutic space offers an opportunity to explore these issues. Talking with a trained counsellor could help you gain a greater understanding of your own personal deep-rooted feelings and patterns of behavior, allowing for a different understanding of yourself. Recognising past and present issues, and learning how to deal with them.

Some of the areas I have worked with include, Bereavement, Stress and Anxiety, Depression, Trauma, Abuse, Relationship Issues and Self Esteem, Self-worth, and abandonment.

  1. Therapy helps provide a different perspective
  2. It offers a safe, non-judgemental accepting space
  3. Counselling can help you regain balance in your life
  4. Counselling often brings a sense of clarity
  5. Therapy can help improve and maintain and develop relationships
  6. Finding the right type of counsellor or therapist is important, the right therapeutic relationship can be empowering

I believe that you are the expert of your story and that you have many strengths that will assist you in overcoming things that challenge you. Taking the first step to sign up for therapy can take courage and I am proud of you for getting started!

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
