About me

Struggling with anxiety and depression can be a very lonely and painful experience. You may have a sense of sadness, hopelessness and despair. Life may seem overwhelming and unbearable. Or you may be feeling angry and frustrated. If you are experiencing any of these feelings then counselling can really help you to better understand the underlying issues which are causing these difficult emotions, and begin to move towards healing and growth.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and I have extensive experience of helping people who suffer with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, childhood trauma, self-harm, relationship difficulties and family conflict.

I offer face-to-face appointments in a safe, private and comfortable therapy room in Hove or Brighton where we will work together to explore the issue which are troubling you with sensitivity, compassion and without judgement.

If you’ve never had counselling before then finding the right therapist can be confusing and intimidating, so it’s important that you take time to find the right therapist for you. As a first step I would invite you to contact me for a free 20-minute phone appointment where we can discuss what you would like to get out of therapy and you can ask me any questions you may have about how I work and what the process involves.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified counsellor with additional post qualification training and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, couples counselling, transactional analysis, attachment theory and working with trauma and dissociation.

As well as working in private practice I work with Phoenix Therapy Practice in Brighton & Hove.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
