BACP accredited Counsellor

About me

We often try to manage things on our own, but there can come a point when it feels important to reach out for support.

Perhaps you are feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or unable to switch off your thoughts. Maybe you are experiencing sadness, hopelessness, low self-esteem, or carrying painful memories from the past. Or perhaps you and your partner are struggling with difficulties in your relationship.

Whatever you are feeling, you are not alone.

I offer face-to-face counselling for individuals and couples in a safe, private and comfortable therapy room in Brighton or Hove, where you can talk openly about and begin to make sense of your difficult thoughts, feelings and experiences.

I am a qualified counsellor and accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), with extensive experience of supporting people with anxiety, depression, panic attacks, low self-esteem, childhood trauma and relationship difficulties.

I am integrative counsellor which means that I am able to draw upon a range of therapeutic approaches, allowing me to tailor therapy to your individual needs. My approach is warm, grounded and collaborative and my aim is to offer a supportive space where you can talk openly, without judgement or pressure.

If you have never had counselling before, finding the right therapist can feel confusing or intimidating, so I am happy to offer a free 20-minute phone or video consultation where we can talk a little about what’s bringing you to counselling and whether working together feels right for you.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor with additional post qualification training and experience in cognitive behavioural therapy, couples counselling and working with trauma.

As well as working in private practice I work with Phoenix Therapy Practice in Brighton & Hove.

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
