About me

Sometimes life can be difficult and overwhelming. Maybe current circumstances and relationships are hard? Maybe you’re experiencing difficult feelings such as depression, anxiety, or anger? Perhaps past or current experiences together are holding you back or eroding your self-esteem? Maybe it’s a more general sense of dissatisfaction, something ‘not quite right’?

How I work

As an integrative-relational counsellor I draw on a range of approaches to find a way of working which best fits you. Most importantly, I work collaboratively with you, offering a relationship where you feel safe and supported to explore your situation and feelings. I believe that this can facilitate greater understanding and acceptance of yourself and insight into how your past experiences may contribute to the present. This can foster greater self-understanding, self-acceptance and self-belief, enabling you to make changes, move forwards and become more fully ‘you’. While facing painful feelings can be tough, I believe that the healing and growth which comes from working through them is immense.

I work in an affirming way with gender, sexuality and relationship diversity and am part of the LGBTQIA community. I have undergone additional training in working with transgender and gender diverse clients.

What are counselling sessions like?

I work gently and compassionately, whilst offering challenge where appropriate, with you setting the pace and direction of our sessions.

The range of approaches I draw on could include focussing on your day to day experience, gaining insight into how the past may have impacted how you are now, or experimenting with new ways of thinking and relating to yourself and others.

In our first session together we can explore the concerns that have brought you to counselling, what you are hoping for, and the best way to work together.

I work in person and online, offering both brief (six to twelve weeks) and open-ended therapy.

How to get in touch

If you'd like to explore whether or not we will work well together, I offer a free twenty minute introductory phone call, with no obligation to continue if it does not feel right. I’d love to hear from you.

You can call or text me on 07743 168 188 or use the contact form to send me an email or you can book an introductory call here.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
