About me
What I enjoy most about my job as a counsellor is working with adults who have experienced Adverse Childhood Experiences. These adverse childhood experiences can leave us with feelings of inadequacy, low self esteem and anxiety. They can also go on to affect our choice of relationships with others in adulthood and often leave us feeling that we are not good enough, and attribute to low self confidence, or that we constantly have to meet the needs of others, before our own in order to feel accepted, or loved.
In the counselling work I can help you explore your own adverse childhood experiences, what emotional needs you may have needed, but never got and now, as the adult how you can give these needs to your younger self. This involves self acceptance, self compassion and re-aligning yourself with what is right for you. This inevitably gives you the power to choose for yourself and live life with your own needs right at the centre. This might sound far fetched, but experience with others, and myself tells me that this is absolutely do able. I am here to help you move from being stuck in a difficult past, to a brighter future.
My promise to you is that I will give you the space to feel heard, seen and important, and with the freedom to express yourself in whatever way is right for you. The joy that I get, is to see you grow into all that you never knew you were.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have graduated with a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (a CPCAB and BACP qualification). I am a Registered Member of BACP and currently working towards Accreditation.
I regularly undertake Supervision for my work and enjoy and value the challenge and support that this provides, promoting my capacity for reflective practice and helping me to develop and evaluate the effectiveness of my practice.
I am enthusiastic and committed to the adventures of ongoing personal and professional development, including keeping up to date with research studies and attending specialist workshops across the UK regularly.
Time difference and time zones does not need to be an obstacle for those living overseas including off shore workers, ex pats living abroad including UAE.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
