About me

Hello, my name is Michele and I am a qualified counsellor. Whether you need help to cope with anxiety, bereavement, depression, school/work related issues, relationships, crisis or trauma, I am offering a confidential, non-judgemental and empathetic talking therapy designed to help you achieve positive changes in your life. I will also support you if you are in your pre- or post-assessment stage of a (neurodivergent versus neurotypical) condition such as Autism, ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, Tourettes.

We all experience times when we feel isolated, misunderstood and lonely; we have the impression that we can’t function anymore in our daily life. Keeping it all inside and being unable to share our thoughts and feelings with someone for fear of being judged or criticised is not a pleasant thought. As humans, we need to talk, and we make sense of our individual circumstances and pain by processing them.

I am here to support you through your difficult times. Working together, we will look at your emotions and the patterns of behaviour, thoughts and feelings which are causing your problems. We may look at your family relationships and history, at who influenced you the most in your childhood to help you understand how you function as a person and to develop your self-awareness and personal problem-solving skills. Developing our self-reliance increases our self-confidence and as a result, we become better equipped to decide what needs changing in our life to create positive changes for ourselves. We may examine your past, focus on the present or look to the future to help you process your painful emotions and make sense of them while encouraging you to explore the events leading to your coming for counselling.

My approach to counselling is “eclectic”, which means that I use a variety of techniques to help you make sense of your individual circumstances, and help you discover how you can use your own personal, social and material resources to cope in the future.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a BA in Pastoral Counselling from Glasgow Caledonian University, a degree in Languages as well as a Post Graduate Certificate in Education. I have worked with clients of all ages and nationalities and I specialise in children (having worked in schools and colleges for 3 decades). I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (720062).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
