About me

Life can be challenging at times and at some point we all need a helping hand to help us make sense of our emotions and situations. I am a trauma-informed practitioner who understands that we are all unique in our ways and need different types of help at different times in our lives. We all experience life and trauma differently. I can tailor my sessions to suit your needs and together we can find a solution that works for you. Let us make you a priority again. You deserve it.

Our traumas do not define who we are and all our emotions are vailed. I trained to be a counsellor after being in therapy myself and was able to gain control back of my own life when I felt like I was drowning in a life of pain. Thanks to my own therapy I was given a second chance at life and believe that everyone else deserves one too. I understand how it feels to be the client on the other end of the phone or computer screen and empathise that it can be a scary place to start. I am here to support you and encourage you to be your authentic self.

I offer a warm, understanding, safe and supportive environment to listen to you and give you space to be heard. I have experience in supporting clients with a variety of issues including, but not limited to: Anxiety, depression,  bereavement, loss, trauma, historic sexual abuse & sexual violence, low self-esteem, stress and sleep difficulties.

I understand that sometimes talking is not enough for some people and therefore I trained to become a Sound Meditation Practitioner. I can offer support with grounding & stabilisation techniques, self-care and sound meditation.

I welcome any enquiries and offer a free 30-minute consultation.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have experience of working with a trauma informed charity who specialise in supporting individuals who have been effected by rape and sexual abuse. I am an ambassador for the charity which is close to my heart. I also volunteer at a local hospice supporting people with their diagnosis and families pre & post bereavement.

My background is predominantly in the health and social care sector. I have worked within different settings such as private & community home care, hospices, palliative care, nursing homes and residential homes for both adults, children and young people. I am aware of how demanding working in this field can be and self-care often gets ‘swept under the rug’ so to speak. My qualifications are below.

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Counselling, Coaching & Psychological Interventions - First Class Honours. (UCLAN)
  • CPD Accredited Sound Meditation Teacher. (Stratford School of Meditation)
  • Foundation Degree in Health & Social Care. (Equivalent to LV 5 NVQ) (UCLAN)
  • How to Respond to Disclosures of Sexual Violence. (RASA)
  • Pre Trail Therapy for Victims of Rape or Sexual Abuse Training. (Survivors Trust)
  • Awareness of Mental Health Training. (Furness College)
  • Workshop with Dr Gill Raynor, Working Compassionately with Self Harm
  • Care Certificate
  • Working at Relational Depth
  • Pluralistic Therapy
  • Trauma-Informed Cumbria Conferences

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
