About me

I am an integrative counsellor and I work with individuals using person-centred, psychodynamic and CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy). I offer a confidential space for you to explore issues that are troubling or interrupting your daily life. Counselling sessions with me allow you non-judgemental time, which you can use to talk openly about anything you chose. My aim is to help people feel comfortable in a counselling environment, and to allow me to help you to work through experiences and issues you are either going through now, or have gone through in your past.

I have experience of working with children, young people and adults  and am a qualified counsellor. I am a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and appear on their register of therapists and work according to their code of ethics.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Diploma in therapeutic counselling as well as clinical experience in the NHS IAPT Service. I have also worked long term with Carers at a Support Service and have personal experience of disabilities and learning difficulties.

I have worked in education for over 25 years and work within school settings offering counselling to students and young people.  I have experience in working with:

Social interaction, Emotional Support, Autism, ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Dyscalculia, Children and Young People's Mental Health, Walk and Talk Therapy, School Avoidance, Pastoral Care, Physical Disabilities and Learning Difficulties.

Registered Member of BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy).

I draw on my personal experiences with physical and learning disabilities and am keen to offer counselling to a wider spectrum of people including those with physical, learning disabilities and older people.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
