About me

Are you struggling with anxiety? Do you often feel overwhelmed or even underwhelmed? Do you struggle with low-mood? Do you find relationships difficult? Chances are, if you have made it this far, something has happened and you are looking for further support and maybe some form of change.

I aim to offer a space to explore these issues which is empathic, confidential and trustworthy, with the aim of creating a space in which you feel safe enough to express difficult feelings and emotions. This can also help you to express yourself freely, in order to explore your emotional reality, accepting what cannot be changed and developing resilience for internal and external discomfort. This will enable you to relate to your environment and to others with less discomfort, which can lead to more functional, creative, and productive lives.

Research suggest that the relationship between client and therapist is fundamental to positive outcomes of therapy. With this in mind, combined with my own personal experience and training, means that the relationship that develops between us will be central to the work that we do together by helping you to gain an understanding of yourself and the way that you feel.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a qualified Integrative therapist, completing my degree at the University of Suffolk in (BA Hons) Integrative Counselling. Working in an integrative way means that I have a comprehensive understanding of different theoretical approaches to human psychological development such as use of Psychodynamic, Person-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Existential approaches, which can enable me to better meet the needs of the client. I have also completed various CPD training courses such as:

  • Cognitive Analytical Therapy (CAT)
  • The Only-child Adult and the Phantasy Sibling Transference
  • Understanding the Impact of Baby Loss
  • Attachment Theory Beyond Bowlby

I have also worked as a mentor in a secondary school for teenage students, a support worker for neurodivergent service users, and a learning support assistant, helping students with different mental health issues reintegrate back into education.

I am fully insured and a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
