About me

Hi, a warm welcome to my page. I appreciate talking to someone can feel like a big step. My aim is for you to feel able to share what it means to be you in the world. To be comfortable enough to be able to bring all parts of yourself.

Life can be complicated and heavy, and it can be rare to have a place where we can be truly honest. Rather than offering advice or guidance, I want to be with you as you explore your experience in the world. I bring curiosity and acceptance, with the aim of getting closer to understanding all of you. The person-centred approach recognises we are all nuanced and understandable. Having someone we feel able to share our feelings with can help us to find an accepting relationship with ourselves. One where we have more freedom to be our true selves, without needing a facade.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am a registered member of the BACP (British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am committed to their ethical framework. I have a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling from Haulm, who specialise in the person-centred approach, and also have the Certificate of Proficiency from the BACP.

I have worked as a group facilitator in the public sector for over 20 years, working with people who’ve experienced challenges and trauma in their lives. I am trauma-aware in my practice, where my aim is to develop a relationship which brings safety and offers freedom to listen to your own voice, and find your own way. I also worked as a Wellbeing Mentor at Varndean College for over 10 years, working one-to-one with students. I currently volunteer at As You Are, who offer low-cost counselling in Sussex.

I am committed to working inclusively, I want you to feel able to share your own experience of difference and discrimination and to feel heard and empowered.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
