About me

Can I help you feel less alone with your problems?

I am a person centred counsellor who is warm, friendly and approachable. I aim to create a safe and confidential space with you in which we can work together to help you understand issues that may be troubling you. I work hard to ensure that you will feel heard and listened to and no longer feel alone with your problems and together we can help you move towards a more positive sense of well being and feeling that you can begin to live your life more fully

I provide a private, face to face counselling service at my home in a calm space in Ilfracombe for people within the North Devon area or I can provide a counselling service online for those that are too far away or cannot travel.

I use talking therapy primarily but can offer creative interventions such as sandtray, photocards and drawing for those who struggle to find the right words.

Training, qualifications & experience

I work with adults as well as having a specialism in child and adolescent counselling. I have managed and provided counselling at a local secondary school for the past 3 years where I worked effectively with many issues from anxiety, depression, eating disorders to ADHD and OCD's. Prior to becoming a counsellor I have had a long and varied career.  I am a qualified psychiatric nurse having specialised in working with the elderly and eating disorders. During my time nursing in London, I volunteered at a mental health helpline called SANEline. I also explored an interest in family therapy and I achieved a certificate in Family Systems Therapy.

I moved to North Devon in 2001 and during my time here I have been involved with running a small business as well as developing my counselling skills. I have worked in a mediation agency as well as volunteering my services to a charity offering reduced price counselling to those who need it most.

I qualified as an accredited integrative counsellor from Dartington College in Totnes. This means I work with many different theories, applying whichever technique I feel will work best for you. I predominantly feel that the most effective work within counselling is in the relationship between the client and therapist. This is an area I feel very comfortable and confident in. I really enjoy meeting and connecting with new people.
