About me

Hello, I am an HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist & CBT Therapist based just outside Dunfermline, Fife. I have over 15 years of psychology experience both within the NHS and private sector. I aim to come alongside you to help make sense of distress and find the best way to move forward to improve wellbeing.

Part of therapy is about noticing unhelpful life patterns that keep us stuck. This involves developing more awareness of our emotions, thoughts and actions. Difficult emotions can be challenging and In times of distress we often push our thoughts and feelings away. However therapy allows you the space to understand to understand your distress and to develop tools to help you move through it. It provides opportunity to look at thinking differently and to increase awareness of emotions discovering they are in fact a guide to help us act differently and meet our unmet needs.

Therapy explores healthy ways of coping and changing how we respond to difficulties using psychological models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy CBT, Schema Therapy, Person centred therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Mindfulness.

Counselling Psychologists are trained in therapy to doctoral level and are particularly focused on the relational aspect of therapy to enable change. The approach chooses not to pathologise distress, instead viewing distress as a normal reaction to life events within the context of life span. We are trained to work using an integrative approach with a number of different models allowing a bespoke approach tailored for your needs. We are particularly good at reflecting on issues within the therapy relationship using it as a vehicle of healing and providing you with opportunity of trying out new ways of being within the relationship.

You will have opportunity to put the insights gained from our sessions into practice outwith therapy and build on this in further sessions. My essential hope is that therapy will allow you to live the life you want. Appointments are currently online and in person. In person appointments are just 5 minutes east of Dunfermline. You are welcome to contact me with any questions or to arrange an appointment. www.mindpsychologyfife.com
