About me

Hi, my name is Louise. Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile. It isn't easy to take the first steps towards looking after your mental health, so well done on reaching out for some help and support. Talking through your issues with a counsellor is a very effective way of improving your wellbeing.

We all have the innate ability to be the best versions of ourselves but often life events and experiences (past and present), get in the way and prevent that from happening. As we're all unique,  no one particular model of counselling suits everyone. Being an integrative counsellor enables me to draw on several counselling models to find what best suits your needs.

I offer a safe, open and non-judgemental space for you to explore what has led you to counselling, at your pace. Within that confidential space you can offload, explore and discuss anything that you choose to divulge. You will always be in the driving seat in terms of what we discuss. However, I will be alongside you on your journey. What is discussed will always be decided by you. My role is to offer constant support, to listen and to hear you in a calm space you can rely on. Counselling can be challenging but rewarding, as you unwrap and process issues that have been causing you difficulty. Being able to trust the space being offered in therapy is essential and I will do my best to establish and build a healing, therapeutic relationship.

Anxiety, depression, stress, low self esteem and building self confidence are all areas in which I'm very experienced - the full list is given below. I've also worked with many clients who have been dealing with trauma, domestic abuse, self harm and grief/loss. Together we can explore the impact this has had on you and using various techniques and strategies, find ways to empower you to affect any changes you would like to make. I currently work with adults of all ages from 18 upwards.

I also offer couples counselling and help with understanding relational issues. Sharing our lives and ourselves with a significant other can be enriching and life affirming while also at times, challenging. As we are all unique, with our own perceptions, nuances, experiences and feelings, there are times when we can feel unheard, misunderstood and/or taken for granted.  Changes in circumstances, for example losing a job, can have a detrimental affect on a relationship. Exploring issues such as these in couples counselling enables each partner to express themselves and be heard in a neutral setting.

I offer face to face sessions, WhatsApp video calls, counselling sessions via phone or a combination of all three. initially counselling is usually on a weekly basis, but you can decide how many sessions you need. Some clients prefer short term counselling, (i.e. four to six sessions), but I'm more than happy to provide long term support. I'm entirely flexible to meet your needs.

I can be contacted by phone, email or text and aim to respond within 24 hours. The initial appointment offers an opportunity to talk through your issues and for you to decide if you would like to proceed further, with no obligation to continue. Sessions are for 50 minutes for individuals and 60 minutes for couples. You can email me or contact me on my mobile number: 07742 875482

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a Counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the Counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.

The counselling room is on the ground floor and is wheelchair accessible
