Each client is unique. I offer a trusting and non-judgemental space, allowing people room to connect with their feelings and identify issues.

I work alongside clients, they are in control of what they wish to share and leading the pace of the sessions, to explore ways of managing pressure and releasing emotional blocks, caused by trauma and life experiences.

We gradually dig deeper and break down patterns of behaviour which are inhibiting progress, to bring about healing, resulting in emotional, physical wellbeing and transformation.

I discuss what has brought a client to counselling, how many sessions they would like to start with and how often they wish to meet (weekly or fortnightly). I then go through the therapeutic and counselling contract, so we are both committed to the changes they want to make.

I work in a creative way, by helping clients connect with different parts of self. The aim is to get to a better understanding of identity and re-connect with positive areas which have become hidden or lost, as well as giving the opportunity to find new strengths which further contribute to the feeling of the true self.

Areas I have supported counselling clients include

Generalised anxiety, depression, self-harm, bipolar, borderline personality disorder, suicidal thoughts, bereavement, family dynamics, imposter syndrome, grief and loss, social anxiety, trauma, terminal illness, palliative care, loss of identity, burn out, confidence issues, work related anxiety, panic attacks, anger issues, health issues, feeling sad, loneliness and isolation, disability, mobility, low self-esteem, relationships, stress, emotional attachment to self and others.

The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Feedback received from clients: -

I went to see Louise for 6 sessions to address some deep rooted issues I was struggling to work through on my own. I immediately felt at ease and after a couple of sessions really felt I could trust her and say whatever I needed to without any judgement.

My sessions were different each week depending on how I felt or what I wanted to discuss. Quite often I went in not knowing where to start as my brain was a jumble of different thoughts but Louise had different activities and approaches to allow me to work through them in a logical way which over time genuinely felt like a weight was being lifted.

To anyone who is even considering therapy/counselling I would 100% recommended it, for me the hardest step was admitting I needing help and making the first call. Once this was done I felt proud of myself that I’d put myself first and was looking forward to getting started.

I now feel a much happier person with much less baggage holding me back as I am equipped with the tools I need to move forward and enjoy my life.

Client testimonial

Going to see Louise helped me tremendously. She was very welcoming and helpful. She provided such a friendly, safe environment that really allowed me to open up and discuss my problems. Louise helped me combat so many underlying issues and conflicts in myself that I didn't even know I had. She helped to challenge me and get me to hear myself and realise what I needed to do to change and get back to being who I want to be.

Client testimonial

It was really important to me to find a counsellor I connected with and felt at ease straight away to be able to talk about all subjects! I really liked your visualisations and found that I could apply those straight away to my day to day. I think the biggest positive to come out of the sessions is it made me feel 'ok' to be unique and accept that I can live my life on my own terms and not expect so much! Already with just a few sessions I feel much more positive in my outlook.

Thank you so much!

Client testimonial

I think of Louise like Mastercard 'priceless' the benefit you get from working with this amazing lady just can't have a price tag.  I have been seeing Louise after a lengthy time of work with depression, anxiety and stress.  I am coming out the other end now and it's all thanks to the wonderful support I felt from the first session we had.

Louise has a variety of professional skills in her toolbox and draws on whatever is appropriate for the session and I always walk away feeling better and ready to cope with the week ahead.  She is a great listener and I'm amazed at how she remembers the rubbish that I've said over the weeks.  You would be hard pushed to find someone as kind, considerate, thoughtful and who genuinely cares about your wellbeing.  I am now back at work and look forward to life, I plan days out, holidays and feel happy.  I could not recommend Louise enough.

Thank you for everything.

Client testimonial
Working with Louise was very inspirational.  She instilled me with a sense of well- being during our meetings, working positively with me to resolve my issues with anxiety.  Louise is very professional in her approach, offering a safe, warm and comfortable environment which allowed me to relax and feel confident to talk about any worries or issues I was experiencing.

As well as listening, Louise offered me support which enabled me to put in place a coping mechanism which I now use effectively.

Louise is compassionate and caring, and very clearly passionate about helping people with their well-being, and from personal experience I would highly recommend her.

Thank you, Louise, you are a lovely lady.

Client testimonial

I contacted Louise at Galena Wellbeing in August 2021.

I spent a number of sessions with Louise and can honestly say that she helped me to make changes that have enabled me to totally change my quality of life for the better. These changes have enabled me to finally give myself “a break” and the freedom to let go of the concerns / restrictions that I had imposed on myself over the years.

Louise worked WITH me to help understand that I could safely make changes that would result in great improvements to my wellbeing, happiness and general effectiveness as a person.

It was not only myself who benefited. Because I quickly found myself in a “better place”,  my home life improved, my partner immediately commented that I was much more positive, my relationship with my children (although always strong and loving ) improved greatly and we found the whole house was a happier place and tensions fell away. My children found their dad was a better person to chat to for positive advice and support. My girlfriend found she had a happier partner who was now free from the self imposed pressures of life.

Louise pulls on a rich experience of life. This enables her to understand, empathise and work with you (in partnership) to identify problems and find solutions. In my case she helped me to give myself permission to make the changes I needed to enrich my life.

Thank you Louise for your great help, support and providing the safe place I needed to change my life for the better.
