About me

As a BACP registered Psychotherapist, I offer various counselling approaches to suit your needs whilst incorporating other models into my practice.

Many of us face a variety of challenges and ups and downs throughout our life. Sometimes the support of friends or families can help us to overcome these hurdles, other times we can manage by ourselves. Sometimes however, this may not be possible, and counselling may be needed.

I offer you a space to explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. By understanding your past, we can work together to make better and more informed choices about how you would like your life to be in the present.

Within a safe, warm, friendly and confidential space, I aim to create a working alliance in which we can explore your thoughts and feelings together in greater depth. Every individual is unique and so I ensure my sessions are adapted depending on your individual needs. Having trained extensively as a counsellor and attended counselling sessions myself, I understand the real difference it can make to someone’s life and am passionate about the process. I look forward to meeting you if you decide to take the leap and get in touch.

My work is underpinned by training in integrative counselling and psychotherapy. Rather than using theoretical models that categorise and label, I work with you to explore the meaning you have made about yourself, your relationships with other people and your relationship with yourself.

I recognise that trauma - not necessarily major traumas - are experiences which shape and impact many of us and I bring a trauma-informed approach to my work with all clients.

I work in an LGBTQ+ affirmative way, and whatever your background, culture or identity, you are welcome. As a registered member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) I work within their ethical framework. I also engage with regular CPD and Supervision to ensure I provide you with a quality and up-to-date service.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Additional information

When you contact me via email or telephone we will have a brief consult, I will then send you my current availability, once we have agreed on a date and time I will send you a zoom link.

I offer an initial introductory session for 50 minutes to discuss the nature of your needs, and to see what you are seeking from counselling and to understand how best I can support you on your counselling journey. This is also the opportunity for you to get to ask questions, get to understand how I work and how we would work together.

We would also discuss the next steps in counselling/therapy and what that would look like, including day and time of sessions if we decide to work together.

We would then arrange a regular time to meet either online or face to face.  I offer both open ended and short term therapy as I believe you have autonomy.  I believe each person grows and develops at their own pace, and it is your choice when you choose to end therapy.  I would however recommend a minimum of six sessions to get a real feel of the process.
