About me

Welcome to my profile. I recognise that it takes courage to engage with therapy.  Seeking therapy can be daunting yet life changing.

What brings you here? You may be seeking therapy for a myriad of reasons, and I work with a whole range of personal difficulties and life events in a way that is tailored to you as an individual.  Perhaps you are struggling with a bereavement or other losses, anxiety or depression, other mental health challenges, adverse life events, relationship or family difficulties, stress, experiences of trauma, an illness or disability, stress, or maybe you can't put your finger on why you feel unhappy, lost or distressed and wish to explore how you can lead a more fulfilling and authentic life. Whatever brings you to therapy, I work collaboratively with you to understand your difficulties and move forwards.

Training, qualifications & experience

Why choose me?

My qualifications

  • PGDip (post graduate diploma) Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy (level 7)
  •  Cognitive Behaviour Therapy certificate
  • Advanced Diploma in Counselling (level 4)
  • BSc (hons) Psychology

In addition to the above, I have also undertaken many CPD (continued professional development) courses and workshops, and maintain this on a regular basis.

As an integrative therapist, I can draw on several approaches to counselling and psychotherapy in a way that is tailed to your experiences, personality and needs. First and foremost I believe it is the quality of the therapeutic relationship and alliance we build together is of huge significance, perhaps over and above the specific approaches and techniques used per se.

My experience

I have vast experiences of over 12 years with adults of all ages (and life stages) as well as young people (teenagers), who brought a whole range of experiences, backgrounds and challenges in life.  As well as my private practice, I have worked for the NHS, various counselling organisations and schools. I offer both short-term and long-term therapy.

I also have 8 years experience as a lecturer and tutor to counselling trainees in adult education, from level 2 up to level 6, as well as running workshops.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
