About me

I am a BACP registered Integrative therapist working from comfortable practise rooms in central London. I provide a safe and secure environment, one where clients can comfortably open up and share their deepest thoughts and feelings. We will work together to help a move towards true self awareness and self acceptance. Whatever it is that you’re struggling with, you don’t need to go through it alone

You might be seeking therapy because you are feeling that you are not coping with some aspect of your life, either at work or in your relationships. Maybe you have lost a sense of purpose in your life or you are finding it hard to enjoy the things you used to enjoy. I use a blend of therapeutic approaches in my work with clients, with particular emphasis on relational and compassion based ways of working.

Counselling can help you with:

Depression

Sex-related issues

Shame

Sexuality

Dependency

Grief

Trauma

Sexuality

Stress

I welcome any complaints or issues, and work people of all ages or background.

Therapy is about exploring issues with yourself and the world around you, about looking at one's past and coming to terms with it. I work together with my clients to enable them to develop true self-acceptance and self-regard.

I also have particular interest and experience of working with people struggling with childhood trauma. You may notice that you are carrying round some anxieties from the past, experiences and memories that seem to cloud your day to day life and have an impact on your self-esteem. This is a common experience for people and one that can have a huge impact on overall wellbeing. I believe that only by undergoing a therapeutic process can we look at these wounds more deeply, and begin to heal from the scars of our past. Present life should be unburdened by the feelings of the past, and we can work together to heal these wounds.

If you would like to consider open-ended or short-term therapy please feel free to contact me by email at lpw03@hotmail.com or on 07737518919. I also work through the Harley platform and the website link is in my profile.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Training, qualifications & experience

My own personal and professional experiences shaped me as a therapist. Suffering is something that many people experience, but it doesn't have to be something that comes to define you. I truly believe that we all have it within ourselves to achieve lasting happiness and satisfaction with life.

My first experience of counselling and psychotherapy was when I was invited to volunteer as a young persons counsellor in a drug and alcohol service in Wiltshire. I was soon asked to be a part of the team working with people of all ages and suffering from a range of issues. This taste of counselling work made a big impact on me and it was then something I knew I would pursue properly at some point. After working in the mental health sector, and then as a management consultant for some years, I began my training in counselling and psychotherapy in 2012. I found the whole thing to be just as interesting and invigorating the second time round and was keen to put my knowledge to use with clients.

I threw myself into working with as diverse and wide range of sectors and counselling environments as possible and gained valuable experience of a spectrum of issues and problems.

I think it is our duty as professionals to continue our development and learning beyond graduating and throughout our careers and as such retain a strong commitment to personal and professional development. This is an art and science that is continuing to grow and find new ideas and ways of looking at things. I enjoy immensely the commitment to development in the mental health sector and am excited for the developments that will come in the future.

I am a fully registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP), adhering to their code of ethics and code of practise.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
