About me

You might want to talk to me about a difficult event in your life, your relationship or maybe you might have negative thoughts or behaviours you want to change.

I work with you by offering a warm and easygoing approach. I listen carefully to what you say and then reflect it back to you so you can hear it for yourself. I might ask questions or perhaps ask you to tell me more about something you said. Try not to worry, we will go at your pace. I will discretely observe your body language and sometimes help you to notice your mannerisms too, as this might help you to understand yourself better.

When we meet in person, I will ensure you have a clean, private, comfortable space for you to hear your own thoughts. I only request that you ensure you have a similarly safe and quiet environment free of distractions for our online session. This is because the session is for you to explore your thoughts, feelings and share what is on your mind.

In the first session you might feel nervous, I will do my best to put you at ease. Each session will be 50 minutes in length. We will spend some time at the beginning talking about things like how long a gap you would like between each session, whether you would prefer in-person or online, what happens if you cannot make a session or if I must cancel a session. I will explain what information I might record, how I will keep your information confidential, and what happens if I assess you to be at risk of harm. Sometimes it can be overwhelming in the first session, so I will send this information to you by email.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have the following qualifications:

BSc (Hons) Psychology
Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice

I am working towards my MA in Psychotherapy

I love being able to help others and enjoy my job as a therapist. I am a trained professional and registered with the professional bodies BACP, BPS and NCPS.

I am a volunteer counsellor for Elisha House a drug and alcohol rehabilitation centre that provides residency for recovering addicts.

I work for the NHS as Mental Health Practitioner and for this reason have attended many training events such as autism awareness, ADHD, mental health first aid, PTSD, trauma informed care, sand tray therapy, supervision for professionals and many more. I assess mental illnesses on a daily basis, make clinical decisions and support both adults, child and young people.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
