About me

I understand that it can be scary to take the initial step of asking for help or booking a first counselling session, but if you are reading this, then you have begun to take that first step. Are you struggling? Do you feel you could benefit from talking to a therapist? There is no shame in this. We all need help from time to time.
You are not alone!

Hi, my name is Lauren Higgins and I am a qualified person-centred counsellor and a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I believe that you are the expert on yourself! However, life can sometimes be hard and confusing, that sometimes we need that extra help or guidance along the way, which is okay. This is where I can help. I am deeply committed to my work. I provide a warm, safe and confidential setting for all my clients. My overall aim is to help my clients work towards change for a better and more fulfilling life.

How counselling can help you:

Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, stress, relationship troubles, bereavement, abuse, or life in general, I can help. Counselling allows you the opportunity to:

  • Feel heard and understood
  • Help improve communication
  • Gain healthier relationships
  • Identify coping skills
  • Strengthen self-esteem
  • Promote behaviour change
  • Discover more around self
  • Help identify goals
  • Discover potential solutions.

My work:

I have predominantly worked in the area of Domestic Violence and Abuse (DVA), but I have also worked with clients who have suffered with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), addictions, anxiety, depression, couples therapy, bereavement, loss, and trauma.

If you would like one to one counselling whether this is face to face or online, please do not hesitate to get in contact. You can start by booking a FREE introduction call below.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
