About me

My aim is to provide a safe space when you can be open about any difficulties you are experiencing and work towards acceptance and positive change.  I have been working as a counsellor since 2010 and believe that anyone can benefit from someone to talk to.  The most important thing I see my role as is to be someone you can trust and feel you can be open with, without feeling judged.  I currently offer online, telephone and face to face sessions.

Are you struggling with any of the issues below?  I can give you the space you need.

  • Anxiety and/ or depression
  • Feeling stuck in your life
  • Challenging relationships with partners/ family members/ friends
  • Finding past experiences difficult
  • Low self esteem or self confidence
  • Bereavement/ loss
  • Addictions
  • Stress

Taking the first steps to try counselling can be difficult but talking about difficulties can be a huge relief and can enable you to move forward in your life.  It’s important to feel comfortable with the counsellor you choose to work with – I offer free initial consultations so you can see how it feels to chat to me and to ask any questions you might have.

Training, qualifications & experience

I am an experienced counsellor and registered member of the BACP.  I have a Post Graduate Diploma in relationship and individual counselling and qualified in 2010.  I work as an integrative counsellor which means I can draw on different counselling approaches (including person centred, CBT, psychodynamic) to work with you in a way that suits you best.

I attend regular clinical supervision and regular CPD courses and am undertaking my Diploma in Counselling Supervision.

As well as private practice, I work for Crew, an Edinburgh-based charity offering counselling to people using psychostimulant drugs.  I have worked with Crew since 2007 and am very passionate about offering non-judgemental support in this field.

Some of my particular areas of interest and experience are relationships, working with trauma, emotion regulation and working with LGBTQ+ clients.  I am very passionate about providing a safe and welcoming space to all.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
