About me
Me as a Professional
Hi, my name is Kerry and I am an integrative counsellor and supervisor working with all ages. I have a speciality in working with teenagers and young adults and I have a particular niche in working with exam stress and worries about the future.
I work regularly with things like anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, school issues, family issues, relationship difficulties, identity, transitions, low self-esteem and self-confidence, health anxiety, bereavement, loss, loneliness, carers support, chronic illnesses, womens health and more.
Previous work experiences include running a successful local counselling service for seven years which worked with all ages but specialised in children and young people. A local hospice, where I supported people receiving palliative care and those dealing with bereavement, grief and loss. A local secondary school supporting young people through anxiety, depression, behavioural difficulties, grief, abuse, identity, self-harm and much more and I've also worked in a Pupil Referral Unit, CAMHS training, charity administration and Banking (all very different roles but with lots of transferrable skills!).
How do I work
As an integrative counsellor, I am trained specifically in Person Centred Therapy, Gestalt and CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy). I use a mix of these approaches along with other professional training to support you, depending on how you want to work and what you'd like to bring to our sessions. I can adapt to your needs and whatever your goals for therapy are. I'm also happy to work creatively using different mediums and resources such as clay, art, cards, Lego, games, walk & talk, nature etc if you're interested. I'm also more than happy to simply sit and talk if this is what you or your young person would prefer.
Our relationship is key to the work we do together and I aim to build a space for us inclusive of trust, care and respect with you or your young person so that you can feel truly comfortable, heard and safe during our time. There might be tough times but I can help you hold those feelings and emotions and we can also laugh and have enjoyment throughout the process too.
I work in various ways: in-person at my dedicated home workroom, online using Zoom or WhatsApp, via email using a specific secure email address or through 'walk and talk' sessions.
My costs
My counselling fee is £60 for 50 minutes or £216 for a block booking of four sessions at a discount of 10%. A one and a half session of 75 minutes costs £75.
I also now offer discounts for trainee counsellors and those newly qualifed for both counselling and supervision.
Me personally
As for me as a person, I'm quite laid back and down-to-earth. I live in a beautiful part of the country and when I'm able I love walking on Dartmoor, the coast and our lovely woodlands. I also try to call myself a gardener but I'm not sure my garden would agree and I'm sure if you come to in-person sessions you will probably also agree!
I do live with MS (Multiple Sclerosis), a chronic health autoimmune condition which is well managed, but when I'm too tired to do those things above I love hanging out with my family, playing games of all types - board games, card games, computer games and escape rooms from time to time and of course, binge watching a Netflix series or two! I'm a big advocate of resting and looking after ourselves but I don't always listen to my own advice!
If you'd like to know more about me and my work, then please feel free to have a look around my website or get in touch and we can have a chat about what you are looking for.

Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
Email Counselling - For many different reasons, people don't always want to have face to face or online counselling and I'm pleased to be able to offer email counselling as an alternative. This is something that can work really well for some people, so if this interests you and you'd like to know more, then please get in touch and I can send you out more info about how this works.
Clay Conversations & One off sessions - These are one off sessions that can support people's wellbeing and help to work through a particular issue you might have that's affecting you. These last an hour and a half and cost £75. As a one off session they can be really helpful for those who don't have a lot of time or money to engage with longer term therapy, who might be unsure whether counselling is for them or if you just have one or two things to talk about and explore. Helpful for you to get something off your chest or work through with another person who wont judge or try to fix.
Counsellors Wellbeing Groups & Workshops I run these for qualified and trainee counsellors to help with your wellbeing and selfcare - something we talk about all the time with our clients but often forget to give time for ourselves! These groups & workshops help with stress and burnout, promote mindfulness, creativity and play and build other social connections and networks.
Walk and talk therapy This is something I do offer but not generally on a regular basis. Due to my chronic illness, I can't always commit to this but they are often helpful for one off sessions, as a change to your normal session or for a check-in from time to time. I have risk assessed a lovely local circular route with lots of areas to sit, be away from members of the public and has plenty of free parking. I will say also, I am a little bit of a fair weather walker and don't particularly enjoy being out in the cold, wet, windy weather that frequents Devon so much so this is often an ad-hoc type of session woven into our in-person sessions and can be changed at quick notice.
